Wireless Master-Slave FES Rehabilitation System Using sEMG Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
A new kind of rehabilitation system is presented in this paper, which can assist the paralyzed patients caused bystroke to perform specific exercise following the therapist’s intention. The master-slave rehabilitation concept is firstly introduced into the functional electrical stimulation (FES) system. This system consists of a master unit and a slave unit, and the two units are connected through wireless communication. Surface electromyography (sEMG) of the master side (therapist) is used as the control command for slave side (patients). Experiments are conducted on the upper limb of healthy subjects and the performance is satisfactory. The system exhibits three useful features: noninvasive technique, master-slave control, wireless communication, and "one to N" training mode.

متن کاملMaster-Slave Current-Sharing Control of a Parallel DC-DC Converter System Over an RF Communication Interface
Using analog wireless communication, we demonstrate a master–slave load-sharing control of a parallel dc–dc buck converter system, thereby eliminating the need for physical connection to distribute the control signal among the converter modules. The current reference for the slave modules is provided by the master module using radio-frequency (RF) transmission, thereby ensuring even sharing of ...
متن کاملA master-slave system using a multi-DOF ultrasonic motor and its controller designed considering measured and simulated driving characteristics
Master-slave active robot hands and endoscopes, which provide dexterous manipulations and wide views like human hands and eyes, are required to be constructed. We have previously developed a multi-DOF ultrasonic motor consisting of a spherical rotor and a bar-shaped stator. The rotor rotates around three perpendicular axes using three natural vibration modes of the stator. In this study, a mult...

Vision-based Pose Estimation (VPE) represents a non-invasive solution to allow a smooth and natural interaction between a human user and a robotic system, without requiring complex calibration procedures. Moreover, VPE interfaces are gaining momentum as they are highly intuitive, such that they can be used from untrained personnel (e.g., a generic caregiver) even in delicate tasks as rehabilita...

In order to demonstrate our research results on managing wireless networks that are used to provide mobile services with a large spectrum of application, we developed the BlueSpot system. This system can be easily used to investigate various open questions concerning wireless networks. Here, we present results that became apparent during our investigations on Bluetooth Scatternets with the aid ...
